Join Aneka for the third in a series of 4 professional skirt making classes; take your skirt block or straight skirt pattern on another adventure and master drafting an A-line skirt shape.

Over 17 modules and 7 hours of 4K video; you will learn how to draft your own A-line skirt patterns and most importantly, how the A-line shape is formed from a pattern cutting perspective. Understanding the drafting rules that will allow you to use this information on future pattern drafting projects. The class begins by teaching fashion design skills, as you consider the shape of skirt you wish to make. In Module 4 you will learn basic A-line drafting rules, moving on to 3 modules that cover 3 different styles of A-line skirts; mini length, knee length and midi length. Pick the skirt you want to draft, or draft to your own requirements.

In Module 8 you will take the A-line concept to the next level and learn how to draft a bias flare skirt shape. Learn how to add more volume to the A-line shape and play with different grainlines, to change the look and feel of the final garment. This will provide an understanding of when to use a 1 dart or 2 dart skirt block for pattern drafting.

The skirt will be sampled and fitted on the body, and Aneka will discuss the common fitting issues that might occur, as well as the design considerations you need to consider. In this class you can make a skirt pattern that fits your individual shape and size, and is designed to your requirements. We are proud that our classes are inclusive for all shapes and sizes and will discuss drafting for a fuller figure and the differences that brings. Finish the class by finalising the pattern, drafting a variety of accompanying components; a straight waistband, facing and loose lining.

Learn at your own pace with lifetime access to this pre-recorded class. All of our video content is fully subtitled and written in-house, supplied with interactive documents. This class is suitable for any level, with Aneka’s informative teaching beginners can follow along and more advanced students can simply speed up or skip video content. Questions can be asked in each module.

Finish the class with an A-line skirt pattern ready to sew up and the knowledge required to draft other A-line style garments in the future, with an understanding of the design process involved.

To complete the class you will need to have a Skirt Block or a Straight Skirt Pattern. We have also put together a range of Pattern Drafting Kits that are available to purchase to work alongside the online class; providing you with the tools and equipment you need.
