Made to Fit: Bodice Block Drafting

Two-Day Pattern Drafting Workshop

Learn to draft your own fitted bodice block, the foundation pattern you can use to make almost anything for the rest of your sewing life.

Commercial patterns are drafted to a standard size and rarely fit your body.In this two-day pattern drafting class in the Macedon Ranges, about an hour from Melbourne, you’ll take your own measurements, draft a block built around your shape, fit it on yourself in calico, and leave with a true-to-you block you can draft from again and again.

Max 6 students · Individual fitting · 12 hours of hands-on tuition

Dates: Saturday 30 & Sunday 31 January 2027, 10:00am-4:30pm
Skill level: Confident beginner to intermediate. You must be comfortable using a sewing machine.
You’ll leave with: your own fitted bodice block (front and back), plus the know-how to draft from it
Price: A$450

With Made to Fit, you’ll learn:
– How to take your own measurements accurately
– How to turn measurements into drafting calculations
– How to draft a bodice block (front and back) without ease – the best way to perfect your true fit
– How to make up a calico toile and check the fit on your own body
– How to read and correct common fit issues, and adjust your draft
– How to add ease and finalise your block
– Tips for drafting your own designs from your finished block

These are the foundational skills behind almost every fitted garment you’ll ever want to make.

How the two days work:
– Day 1: measure, draft your front and back bodice, and cut your calico toile. Sew up your toile at home that evening, or start it in class if you finish early.
– Day 2: fit your toile, correct your draft, add ease and finalise your block.
